PUBLIC SCREENING
Chicken Soup and Scouse had its first public screening at the FACT Cinema in Liverpool on 11th June 2007 in front of an invited audience of over 230. Guest speakers included Kim Johnson from the Liverpool Culture Company who welcomed the audience and explained how the project fitted in to the celebrations leading up to Liverpool hosting European Capital of Culture in 2008. Award winning novelist and Guardian newspaper feature writer Linda Grant introduced the film with anecdotes of her own upbringing in the Liverpool Jewish Community.
The film was then shown to the enthralled audience who found it warm, affectionate and some times emotional. Several members of the audience commented that they could have easily sat there for another hour watching the film. The audience included several members of the community who participated including interviewees Harry Paterson 95, Gertie Harris 90, Miriam Goodman 96 and Anita Wiseman 96 who had travelled up specially from London for the event.
The programme concluded with a questions and answers session chaired by Johnny Cohen with a wide range of questions to the panel which comprised co producers Arnold Lewis and Michael Swerdlow and Bill Williams from Manchester University and Gabriel Sivan from Israel, both eminent historians and specialists on Liverpool Jewish Communal history.
